Today is my Oma’s (German for grandmother) 99th birthday. She survived the Depression, was a World War II Nurse, and worked in hospitals until her 80s. She is one of the most deserving people I know to share her birthday with International Women’s Day. This photo is her in late the 30s/early 40s.
